For the Love of a Caregiver

Can you believe January 2016 is already over and it's now February?  Is it just me or is time literally moving warp speed ahead?  A great friend of mine once said that time only moves swiftly for those of us who are shaking and moving,  when life is good and you're experiencing life's sweet spot.  Until that statement was made, I hadn't considered that perspective and I am pondering it once again, particularly from the perspective of a caregiver.

How fast is time moving for you when you're caring for someone day in and day out?  Are the days sailing by or is each hour painstakingly slow?  Are you bored or have you determined that your work as caregiver is part of the greater plan for your life?

Are you finding meaning and purpose, even fulfillment in your role as caregiver?  Are you remembering to honor yourself by caring for you and making your life a priority in the grand scheme of things?

In my journey as a caregiver, a coach and consultant, I've experienced much of it first hand and seen the full gamut.   What I know for sure is that time can fly by no matter what you're doing.  Days turn into weeks, weeks into months and before you know it the year is gone and you can look around and wonder what happened.  By setting an intention, creating a goal and making a plan for yourself you will experience life on your terms as opposed to simply allowing life to happen.  

What is it that you want? Not the pie in the sky wishing for the things that you can't control but the things that you really can control.  Can you learn that second language while you're caregiving?  A cool free app, called Duo Lingo requires ten minutes max a day and you can learn any language you want on your phone, tablet or computer.  Want to learn how to (fill in the blank) watchesandmore.de?  You Tube videos provide instruction on any topic you can imagine.  Want to exercise, learn yoga for relaxation and mediation?  You Tube it is. The point is, no matter what it is that you want to do for you, you can do it.  You can do it in the confines of your home or you can get some help so once a week minimally, you're getting out and you're focusing on something that's important to your personal growth and well being.  

So yes, it's already February.  But it's not too late for you to plan and put the wheels in motion to take care of you.  It's the month of love and what better time than now that you, the caregiver do something that's, for the love of a caregiver.
