So in a nutshell, here’s what you should know about me professionally: I am the founder of The Caregiver’s Guardian, LLC. I have an extensive background in public health education and served as an independent consultant for 15 years with California’s Department of Health Services where I provided expertise on some of the state’s most innovative social marketing campaigns. I spent fifteen years as caregiver to my mother, Elizabeth St. Cyr Roberts. That journey was so complete that when it ended, I didn’t think I’d ever have to utter the word or think about caregiving again. A year after my mom’s death, I knew without a doubt that caregiving consulting and education would become my life’s work. For the past six years I have care managed, coordinated care, consulted with and supported family caregivers across the country. I’ve met some amazing caregivers and have recently completed my inaugural book chronicling my journey and theirs, entitled “Tears In My Gumbo…...The Caregiver’s Recipe for Resilience. My education spans the following: Long time ago I attended the University of New Orleans where I studied Business Administration. More recently I attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where I earned a professional certification in Gerontology. I am a Certified Senior Advisor, Patient Navigator and Alzheimers/Dementia. Here’s what you need to know about me personally and why I should be your coach – - I personally know and understand the challenges and unique position that a caregiver faces because I have lived the life of a caregiver, long distance and 24-7. I have companioned my loved one through chronic and critical illnesses that spanned the course of 15 years. - While caregiving, I also had to juggle family (my husband, my son) and work - I moved my mom with me, away from family and dealt with all of the dynamics associated with that decision – (I have a large, loud, crazy but loving family) - I’m a straight shooter, tactful and honest – I will tell you what you need to hear and what no one else will have the courage to say - This work as a coach is my calling, it’s what I was born to do - As a coach, I’m not for everyone but for those that allow me to serve, I’m the best there is at what I do.
